Furniture

Immersed in the minutia of furniture shopping, we trudged from store to store, sitting, lounging, slumping, and measuring. There are so many home furnishing places here, but we don't have the perseverance to seek them all out.

From what we've seen, Siam Discovery Center has the nicest stores. Budget-wise, however, we are drawn to the furniture malls. (We can't handle the open air markets because it's too hot in the day, teeming with bugs and tourists at night, whine, whine...)

In the end, we committed to a particular couch that is neither the best value nor of the most interesting deign. It is, however, a (gasp!) sectional. This makes for a whole new experience in TV viewing. Hehehehehe. We don't know how well it will fit in our small living room but we'll go without a proper dining table if need be. Besides being comfortable, the couch is somewhat cat-proof -- so we think -- because it's leather-bound. The covering resembles a tough PVC, seemingly more resilient to relentless clawing than other materials.

Clutching the receipt, I felt, with almost absolute certainty, that this too shall eventually be destroyed.
