Burma Protests

Violence broke in Burma, after a month of escalating tension, resulting in five dead.

It has been reported than Than Shwe's family has taken refuge in Bangkok this week (why?!). What that means is uncertain at this point - perhaps the end of the dictatorship is near, hopefully without more bloodshed. Nevertheless, Thailand is bracing for an influx of refugees if the clashes worsen.
