Trang

Sorry for the recent lack of posts. Got sidetracked by a lot of things but we took a breather last weekend, heading to the province of Trang on the Andaman Sea.

An hour+ flight from Bangkok, Trang is completely quiet, pristine, and low-key, compared to Phuket or Samui. The relatively tranquil sea is dotted with small islands, many boasting expansive coral reefs, beaches, and craggy cliffs (where locals source swallow's nests).

On the first island visited, we ventured into the Morakot Cave. Led by a guide, we bobbled for about eighty meters in complete darkness until we reached an opening into a lagoon and white sand beach completely surrounded by cliffs. Pretty amazing but slightly scary as we had to dive under the cave roof to get out as the tide was rising.

Also snorkeled among the coral reefs off Koh Kradan and Koh Hai, basked in the sun, and walked on the beaches. It was a fantastic time, and even though we were only there for three days, we missed it upon returning to the urban sprawl of Bangkok.
