Coup

Everything is ok in regards to last night's coup. It was quick and fairly quiet, authenticated by nationalistic music videos (with lyrics flashing on the screen, karaoke-style) on Thai channels. Radio stations broadcasted military songs, remnants of the 70s (my dad forgot how to turn on the radio - there hasn't been a coup in a long time). It feels surreal to see tanks on the street again.

All in all, it's not a bad thing, especially since it has not involved fighting or any other kind of violence. Given the escalated political tensions as of late, it seems inevitable that a coup would ensue. We're worried about what will happen but hoping things cannot get any worse.
