Khom loi ("floating lantern") deserves its own posting because it's so simple and yet so cool in concept and design. It's also kind of fun to set things ablaze. >:D
We launched several of these hot air lanterns at my cousin's birthday party on Krisada Doi, Chiang Mai. After being lit for a short time, the surged aloft, posing as lustrous specks in an otherwise starless sky. I guess they symbolise the lifting of one's burdens (a reminder to take oneself lightly).
